Welcome to the Macdonald Street Erskineville consultation website. This website has been established to provide an easy channel for project information and community feedback throughout the planning and site works processes.

Leighton Properties and LaSalle Investment Management (the site owners) are proposing a new, high-quality, inner-city residential community on Macdonald Street Erskineville.

The 1.6 hectare site lies in the north-west corner of the 17 hectare Ashmore Precinct, an industrial estate now designated by the City of Sydney as an urban renewal area.

The site owners recently received approval from the City of Sydney to commence early site works. On Monday 19 March 2012, activity will commence on site. Starting soon after will be the early works, which include partial demolition of the existing warehouse and construction of a display suite at the northern end of the site. These early works are expected to be completed in mid 2012.

For safety reasons, the site gate at the bottom of Bridge St will be closed during site works. We apologise for any inconvenience and suggest those people accessing the Ashmore Precinct take an alternative route via George and Macdonald Streets.

A Development Application (DA) for the overall proposal is currently on public exhibition by the City of Sydney. You can find out more by visiting the City of Sydney’s website.

The proposed residential scheme is the outcome of a design competition that was conducted in accordance with the City of Sydney’s Competitive Design Policy – Competitive Design Alternative Process provisions, included in the draft Sydney Local Environmental Plan 2011.

Given the location and size of the Ashmore precinct, Leighton Properties and LaSalle Investment Management are sensitive to the importance of developing the site to an appropriate scale and use. The proposed scheme is generally compliant with draft Sydney LEP 2011 and the draft Development Control Plan December 2010 prepared by the City of Sydney Council in 2010 for the Ashmore precinct, following consultation with the community.
